As Crossmolina bid for a national title on the football field this weekend, one of the North Mayo town’s very own earned a fantastic achievement over the weekend.
Rionagh McHale, representing Ballina Rowing Club, secured third place in the 1,000m Freshman event at the Irish Indoor Rowing Championships.
Her finishing time was a personal best, of seven seconds from her previous time at the provincials last November.
Rionagh competed at the University of Limerick Sports Arena, against competitors from many other rowing clubs and universities across the country.
She is a student at Gortnor Abbey in Crossmolina.
Ballina Rowing Club are delighted with Rionagh’s achievement, in just her first year of rowing.
