Mayo Schoolboys/girls had two of its girls' squads in Eamon Deacy Park, Galway on Saturday facing their Galway counterparts. Up first at 2pm was the under 12s who, despite falling a goal behind, had leveled matters by half-time through a Sadhbh Mc Donagh goal. In a very dominant 2nd half Mayo ran out 3-1 winners with further goals from Laoise Heneghan and Anna Holmes.
Kicking off 2 hours later the Mayo u13s gave a very polished, mature performance in dealing with a home side full of attacking threat. The only goal of the game arrived late in the 2nd half when Mayo were awarded a penalty for handball. Up stepped Lexi Murphy to dispatch the spot-kick with aplomb and give Mayo the victory and top spot in the group.
