Liam McHale has made some changes to his management team for the Mayo senior ladies footballers for next season.
Former Mayo hurling manager Derek Walsh joins the team as a coach/ selector. He brought the Mayo hurlers to a Nicky Rackard Cup in 2021 and the Christy Ring final in 2022, and recently managed the Ballyhaunis senior men’s footballers. He was also in the backroom team with the Mayo ladies when they reached the All Ireland final in 2017.
Henry Gavin has also been added to the backroom staff as a coach/ advisor. He played with Mayo and Castlebar Mitchels and captained his county to a Connacht title in 1985.
Kilmovee Shamrocks footballer Niamh McCann, a native of Westmeath, joins the management as x. She has a strong basketball background having won All Ireland schools basketball titles with St. Mel’s College, Longford. She is married to former Ballaghaderreen footballer Joe McCann, who recently won All Ireland gold in handball.
Former Mayo footballers Kenneth Mortimer and Dermot Flanagan, who were part of the management in 2024, will not be there next year.
