Mayo AC runners featured strongly at the weekend when eighteen members ran in a 3/4 marathon and 10k in Swinford on Saturday morning.
It was a big club turnout given that many are committed to compete in the National Half-marathon Championships on Sunday next September 15 in Charleville - good luck to them!
Many in Swinford also used the event in preparation for the Dublin Marathon now just over six weeks away.
Conditions were sunny and warm for the three races which were excellently organised by hosts Swinford AC.
In the 3/4 marathon (approximately 31.7k or 19.6 miles) John Byrne led Mayo AC home in a great time 2:04.13 to finish in 7th place overall.

Course records are held by Sergio Ciobanu Clonliffe Harriers AC 1:48.30, and Barbara Cleary Donore Harriers AC 2:05.00
In the 10k race the Mayo AC finishers were : 8th Andrew Hayes 40:02, 11th Donna Gallagher 41:56 – second woman, 14th Johnny Cribbin 42:50 1st M50 category, Mags Glavey 49:37 1st F50 category , Thomas Jennings 51:40, Caitlin Woods 53:49, Fiona Jennings 1:08.19.
10k winners Bryan Renton Westport AC 35:17, Caitlin Hughes Swinford AC 38:59.
The 5k Winners were : Cathal Kennedy 16:07, and Freya Renton Westport AC 16:47
