The Mayo Women's League is getting down to the business end of things in the Premier Division where Manulla hold a three-point lead over Swinford, who are keeping the pressure on them with three games left to play.
At the other end of the table, Kiltimagh Knock United will drop down to Division One at the end of the season where Killala are currently on top on 15 points, with no less than four teams on 12.
Three first-half goals from Ciara Forkan, Aoibhin McGarry and Kaitlyn Jordan set Swinford up for their fifth win in the league as they defeated Castlebar Town 4-1 on Friday evening. Town reduced the deficit before the break via Roisin Kelly but McGarry restored the three-goal advantage on the hour mark.
Down in Foxford, S&F avenged their Mayo Cup exit at the hands of Kiltimagh Knock United who put up a spirited show but ultimately lost 3-1 in a gritty encounter.
KK suffered an early setback when Stephanie Loughney goaled and could have equalised through a penalty, but Emma Galligan in the Straide & Foxford goal pulled off a good save. Avadh Gaughan extended their lead before half-time, with Fiona Doherty on target early in the second.
Shona Mahon delivered a peach of a reply over the 'keeper from out on the right soon after but that was as good as it got for the visitors.
In the only game in Division One, Ballina Town and Crossmolina produced an 11-goal thriller, with Town winning by the narrowest of margins, 6-5.
Ballina held a 2-1 lead at the break courtesy of Kayla Salami, two minutes in, and Maria O'Brien, who scored just before half-time after Joanna O'Malley got Crossmolina on the scoreboard on 34 minutes.
Rachel Bourke, who scored a hat-trick, equalised matters and would later lead the Cross' charge to try and get something from the game with goals in the 84th and 89th minute, with a goal from Dara Moore sandwiched in between.
After Mollie Doherty hit the net for Ballina on 61 minutes, Rebecca Brudenall came on as a substitute and had an immediate impact with a goal, and a second followed just shy of 10 minutes later. Salami wrapped up the scoring for her side with 12 minutes left on the clock and Ballina held out despite two late goals for their visitors.
Next up in the women's league are the Rumley Cup and Mary Walsh Cup semi-finals next Friday evening.
In the Rumley Cup, it's a top two clash with Manulla at home to Swinford, while a local derby sees Conn Rangers hosting Straide & Foxford.
In the Mary Walsh Cup, Killala are at home to Ballinrobe Town and Westport United welcome Crossmolina.
