They were five point winners over last year’s winners Mayo.
The sides were level at half time, 0-6 each.
Mayo kept with Galway throughout until the closing stages where Galway hit the net.
Andrea Trill scored the game’s only goal just four minutes after being introduced.
Galway have won five of the last six provincial finals.
