Connemara are through to the Connacht Junior Rugby Cup final after a strong victory over Castlebar this afternoon.
Tommy Mullen opened the scoring for the men in black on 12 minutes, which was converted by Enda Conneely.
Henry O’Toole added a second try for the home side to put more pressure on Castlebar who were soon after reduced to 14 for a time due to a yellow card.
Things went from bad to worse at the start of the second half for the Mayo men, as Conneely made it 19-0 by crossing over and then converting.
Castlebar kept plugging away, and after a well worked line-out Patrick Flannelly got their opening try with Stephen Rogan converting.
Zach Wright touched down soon after to put just seven between the sides.
The decisive score came on 70 minutes, when Connemara’s Alan Keogh popped the ball up for John O’Brien who got his first try of the day.
Six minutes later O’Brien doubled his tally and put the contest beyond the Castlebar reach.
To the visitors’ credit they did have the last say, when Damien Togher scored the game’s closing try.
