Roscommon were unable to get their Division One campaign off to a winning start in this year’s Allianz NFL.
The FBD League champions lost by three points to home side Tyrone this evening.
Donie Smith’s well taken goal put Davy Burke’s side in the lead on 13 minutes, but Tyrone regained the lead just before half time.
Conn Kilpatrick was red carded for Tyrone five minutes into the second half, but this seemed to spur the Ulster men on if anything with Darragh Canavan hitting their next four points.
Roscommon thought they had a lifeline with a palmed goal from Cian Connolly, but it was deemed to be a square ball.
Full time score from O’Neill’s Healy Park:
Roscommon 1-11 Tyrone 0-17
