Sligo senior club Tourlestrane have announced Ballaghaderren native Mike Solan as their manager for 2024.
Solan spent the last two seasons as the assistant manager of the Leitrim senior footballers under Andy Moran.
He famously won the 2016 All-Ireland U21 football championship with Mayo as manager.
He won 2 Connacht championships at that grade in 2016 & 2018, he went on to another All-Ireland decider but in a losing effort in 2018.
He replaces Fergal O’Donnell as the new manager of Tourlestrane.
The south Sligo side will be looking to reclaim the Sligo senior title which they relinquished last season, that coming off the back of seven county senior titles in a row (2016-2022).
In a club statement they thanked Fergal O'Donnell for his work in the last two seasons.
"Tourlestrane GAA would like to thank Fergal O’Donnell and his management team for their work over the past 2 years with our senior footballers.
Under Fergal’s guidance, our senior team won their 7th senior title in a row in 2022, and also got to the club’s first Connacht Senior Football Championship final in 40 years.
Following a meeting of the club executive last night, it has been confirmed that Mike Solan will take charge of the senior men’s team for 2024."
