Galway United suffered just their second defeat of the League of Ireland First Division last night.
They lost out by 1-0 away to sixth place Longford Town.
Cristian Magerusan scored on the half hour mark for the game’s only goal.
Interestingly, Strokestown Road has been the bogey ground for Galway this season as they lost 1-0 to Longford there back in May for their first league loss.
Nevertheless, John Caulfield’s side are destined to be crowned champions and will look to get back on track with a win on Friday night when they travel to Bray.
With 29 games gone, Galway are on 73 points and still 15 points clear of second place Waterford.
