Cork City were 3-0 winners over Sligo Rovers in last night’s League of Ireland Premier Division meeting.
Ruairí Keating scored all three goals at Turner’s Cross.
This moves the Mayo man up to second place in the top scorer rankings in Ireland’s top tier.
The sides last met on July 15 at the Showgrounds with Rovers getting a 3-0 win that night.
Last night’s five star performance by Keating was a truly special one, as the last time Cork City and Sligo Rovers met, Ruairí’s father Ciaran died following a road traffic collision while travelling from their native Westport to the Showgrounds.
Just three points separate the sides following this result, with Rovers ahead on 30 points.
With 29 games played each this season, the Bit O’ Red could be flirting with relegation for their final fixtures.
