There was great medal winning success by Mayo AC masters athletes who had five competitors in the National 10 Mile Championships in the Phoenix Park on Sunday. JULY 23.
The 9am start meant another long day for West of Ireland runners.
Some competitors had a free entry from Athletics Ireland due to the fiasco National 10k at the same location last April.
A wet surface and misty rain made for tough conditions.
Mayo AC results: (Net times: determine championship places, category place):
Colette Tuohy W50 67:53 4th – hard luck on a brave effort, she won gold in W50 2019 in 65:44.
Angela O’Connor W55 70:36 4th –tough luck also, just two seconds outside bronze.
Pauline Moran W65 69:47 another brilliant gold medal to add to her amazing year so far – and just outside her 2019 10m pb in same race: 69:14 when she won gold W60.
The first three combined times of Colette, Angela and Pauline counted for M50 team medals = 3:28.32 which was good enough to win them gold by over four minutes from Mullingar Harriers AC.
And added to Pauline's individual W65 gold well deserved W50 team medals for all three.
Congratulations!
Well done also to Mayo AC other finishers:
Tony O’Malley M50 66:54 20th of 43 in category
Paula Donnellan W40 75:49, 14th of 37 in category .
