Irish rugby captain Nichola Fryday has announced her retirement from the international game.
The former Blackrock College and Connacht Rugby player from County Offaly made the announcement after 34 appearances for her country.
First capped against Canada in 2016, she was appointed captain ahead of the 2022 TikTok Women’s Six Nations.
In today’s statement, Fryday said playing for Connacht was her first aspiration and the coaches she had over the years pushed her to become a better player and showed her she could be a leader.
The 28 year old says she will continue to play for her club Exeter and says that huge growth still has to be made in the sport.
