The League of Ireland has accepted applications from the newly launched Mayo FC to enter the EA Sports League of Ireland Academy at three underage levels.
For the 2024 season, Mayo FC will compete in the Men’s u14 and u15 grades and in the Women’s u17 level.
The club has been formed by representatives of Mayo Football League who have worked towards the LOI applications.
Both applications were approved by National Leagues Committee (NLC) earlier this month. This will mean that 22 clubs will compete at male U-14 and 23 will play at U-15 level next season while 20 Clubs are set to line-up in the female U-17 competitions.
At yesterday’s press conference held by the Mayo Football League at the Breaffy House Hotel, the managers for each side were also revealed.
The Under-14 boys team will be managed by head coach Joe Kelly, who will be assisted by Eamon Daly.
The U-15 team will be headed by Rafael Cretaro, who will be assisted by Joe Murray and Dan Gorman.
The newly-formed U-17 girls team will be managed by James Johnson, who will be assisted by Ryan Merchant and Michelle Ruane.
