12 athletes from Lake District AC headed for the Schools All Irelands in Tullamore last Saturday 4th of June.
These athletes represented Ballinrobe Community School at the championships.
There were some great performances by all athletes but most notably three Lake District athletes came home with gold in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior Boys javelin.
Resulting in a clean sweep of gold medals in the boys javelin that day. Oisin Joyce closed off a very successful day winning gold in the senior boys javelin with a new championship best of 68.79m.
He smashed the previous record of 65.05m, a record that stood for 24 years since 1999 also achieving a European u20 B qualification standard in the process..
Aaron Crowley also won gold with a huge personal best and a throw of 55.60m in the inter boys javelin.
Ben Place finished 8th in the same competition and put in a good performance.
Not to be out done Barry Langan won the junior boys javelin with a Personal best and a throw of 44.66m.
Moving up a weight for the Schools All Ireland Eoin Jennings finished 5th in the same competition with a Personal best of 38.72m.
Rhianna Moran finished 6th in the inter girls javelin and put in a strong performance.
Grace Jennings who put in an exceptional run to run a 3 second Personal best to run 2.17 to finish 7th in the inter girls 800m.
David Marrey placed 9th in the senior boys high jump and put in a solid performance.
Alan Lydon who is new to the sport of high jump finished 9th in the Junior boys high jump and learned some valuable experience.
Sarah Brennan finished 11th in the minor girls long jump with a strong performance.
Erin Feerick finished 7th in the Senior Girls long jump with a new Personal best
of 5.11m, narrowly missing on the cut for the final.
Liam Lynch finished off the day of competition with a new Personal best of 49.52m in the senior boys javelin to finish 4th and he finished 6th in the senior boys shot put, unlucky not to come home with a medal.
