Tributes are being paid to the late Aileen Daly who passed away yesterday (Thursday May 25).
Mrs Daly, of Clooncoose, Cootehall, Co. Roscommon and formerly Lavally, Tuam, Co. Galway, was the sitting secretary of Roscommon LGFA.
She was also LGFA Chairperson for the St Michael’s GAA Club in Roscommon.
The county board described her as a “lady in the prime of her life, with so much still to impart to those around her.”
The Roscommon LGFA twitter account posted:
“It is with such sorrow that we have to inform you all of the sad passing of Aileen Daly, a lady who devoted her time, energy and knowledge to ladies’ football in her club and county for numerous years.”
“She was a gifted lady whose natural instinct was kindness and generosity towards others. Aileen dedicated herself to whatever position she was involved with, be it fixtures, assistant secretary or county secretary.”
As a mark of respect, St Michael’s have cancelled all activity until Saturday afternoon.
The Connacht LGFA U16 championship meeting scheduled for tonight between Roscommon and Sligo has also been postponed.
Aileen will repose at Shivnan’s Funeral Home, Ballyfarnon this evening from 4:00PM until 8:00PM.
Removal takes place from her home tomorrow (Saturday) morning to St Michael’s Church, Cootehall, arriving for Mass of Christian Burial at 12 noon, followed by interment afterwards in Ardcarne cemetery.
