Mayo had to work hard at the finish to get their second victory after Donegal powered back into the game in the second half.
Donegal took the lead midway through 1-08 to 0-10 after Brendan Gaffey sent a pile driver to the top corner of the Mayo net.
The visitors however never panicked and Fionn and David Delaney were superb in the closing stages for Mayo.
They hit 1-04 all from play in the final ten minutes. The goal arrived after 22m when Fionn Delaney latched onto a breaking ball and riffled it into the Donegal net.
The final moments were tense but Mayo held on for their second consecutive victory.
