The Last One Standing 24 hrs event took place in Belfast at the weekend February 11/12.
It started at 12 noon Saturday. Runners had 1 hour to complete the first 4.2 mile loop and be at the start line ready to go again at 1pm, then again at 2pm and so on.
Any runner not finished inside the time limit and at the start ready to start again was disqualified.
This happened every hour until there is only one runner at the start line, this runner will be the last one standing.
This runner must complete a solo loop inside the time limit to be crowned the winner.
Event organisers Atlas Running say “the race is not about being the fastest!
Pacing is everything!”
John Brennan was 12th last to finish I was 4th last to call it a day. All organised by Atlas Running .”
Two Mayo AC runners competed.
John Gordon says “there were 71 starters at 12 noon on Saturday who ran through the night into Sunday. John Brennan completed 24 hours to hit 100 miles. I completed 26 hours to complete 108 miles. 1 lap is 4.167 miles around Florida Manor estate.
1 medal for completing 100+ miles and 1 medal for the actual race."
Congratulations to John Gordon and John Brennan who undertook this unique ultra challenge.
