The Irish National Badminton Championships took place in the National Indoor sports arena in Dublin on Saturday the 4th and Sunday 5th February 2023.
In the singles competition Adam Mc Alister from Ballaghadeeren and David Walsh from Bonniconlon both competed. They both won through to the quarter finals where they met, and played against each other. Adam won the match in two sets and won through to the semi final where he met and beat Robbie Frost from Dublin. In the final Adam met Nhat Nguyen the Irish number one player and an Olympian. This was a match to far for Adam and he lost out in two sets, but he can still be very proud of his silver medal.
In the Men’s doubles Adam and David teamed up and won through to the semi Finals. There they met Daniel O Meara and Brian O Mahoney from Munster the number two seeds. This Semi was a great match with David and Adam winning through to the final after three set match.
In the final they met the Irish number one pairing of Paul Reynolds and Joshua Magee. The Connacht pairing lost the final in two sets but can be proud of winning a silver medal at the National Championships.
