Sligo have suffered defeat in their National Football League Division 3 opener against Clare.

Three first half goals left Clare in a comfortable position heading into the break, 3-6 to 0-4 ahead.

Lizzy Roche goaled first before a brace of goals from Fidelma Marrinan set the Munster side on their way.

Roscommon lost out to Tyrone in their National Football League Division 2 first round tie.

In a game that saw the sides level in the second half, Tyrone pulled ahead after hitting the back of the net.

Maria Canavan kept the scoreboard ticking for Tyrone, and despite a late goal for Roscommon, the Ulster side managed to see the game out and claim three points.
