One in four intercounty ladies' footballers sustained at least one concussion or suspected concussion across a season.
That's according to a study of 657 club and county female players published by DCU.
The study also found 77 per cent of club players who sustained these injuries, did not receive medical clearance before they returned to play.
The lead author of the report told the Examiner many female footballers are not getting adequate concussion care and is urging coaches to be improve concussion management.
