The League of Ireland have introduced professional contracts for players in the SSE Airtricity League Women’s National League for the 2023 season.
This was introduced yesterday (December 1) just in time for the new registration period for next season.
In a statement from the League of Ireland and the FAI, this change has been described as a landmark milestone and means female players are now subject to the same equal minimum wage structure as male counterparts.
The historic agreement was reached after the National League Committee approved the introduction of professional contracts and this decision was ratified by the FAI Board.
