The Provincial Indoor Rowing Championships were held at the University of Limerick Sports Arena on Saturday with competitors from Tullaghan Bay in Erris and Sligo Rowing Club from the North West among those representing Connaught.
There were individual medals for Emma Gaughan of Tullaghan Bay who won gold at 2k and 500 metres, Michael Cormack Ballycroy and Jack Doherty of Geesala . Three Tullaghan Bay teams won gold medals in relays, Jack Doherty making it onto the podium again with teammates Andrew Smyth, Darragh Gallagher and Callum Gaughan. The second gold was delivered by Michael Cormack, DJ Doocey, Kirsten Donoughue and Leah Gaughan. There was also first time success for sisters Aleesha Calpin, Alex Calpin, Katie Turner and Saoirse Donoughue winning gold in their category.
The next event is the Irish Indoor Rowing Championships which will be held at UL at the end of January 2023
