Connacht Rugby have confirmed that Andy Friend will leave his position as Director of Rugby when his contract expires at the end of the season.
In a statement on the club website, Friend said:
" I am very proud of what we’ve been able to achieve both on and off the field as a Team since our arrival, and am driven to do everything in my power to ensure this season is the best one yet.”
Friend is currently in his fifth season at the club, spending the first four as head coach before moving to his director of rugby role for the 2022/23 season.
His time with the club includes last season's qualification for the knockout stages of the Heineken cup for the first time in history.
Connacht Rugby CEO Wille Ruane paid tribute to Andy Friend, and in particular the way he bought in to Connacht rugby ethos, their brand of rugby, and life in the West of Ireland.
Connacht Rugby will now begin their process in search for a successor.
