Mayo AC are delighted to present the inaugural Foxford 4 Miler in memory of our friends Ann Murray & Mickey Ruane, stalwarts of our club who tragically passed away in the last few years.
The race will be held at Foxford on Sunday September 25 at 1pm.
The course is flat and fast, which bodes well for speedy times on the day.
The race route for this event has sentimental significance for both Ann & Mickey - they both competed in a 4 mile race on the same course in 2006 - which passes through their home village of Rinnaney.
On that day there were just 12 competitors including Mickey’s wife, Mary, while Ann’s husband Paddy drove the lead car - a real family affair.
Current Mayo AC chairman, John Byrne, ran a lifetime best 4 mile time of 19.53 on that day. Can anyone smash this record on September 25th?
We are delighted to support the Family Centre in Castlebar, all proceeds (excluding event expenditure) will go directly to this valuable local service.
The Family Centre provides Counselling services, Suicide Bereavement liaison services, Flourish Social Prescribing along with many other supports. All donations stay locally to help the people of Mayo receive the supports tthey need.
We are very grateful to our extremely generous sponsors Pamex Ltd, John O’Donnell’s Pharmacy, Season Master Double Glazing Ltd, Clive’s Butcher & O’Hara’s Bakery.
We expect a large attendance of runners and walkers and encourage participants to register early online on mayoac.com or runireland.com.
Route is Athletics Ireland measured and certified, chip timed and will be well marshalled on the day.
Entry is just €15, a fun community atmosphere is guaranteed on the day!
Refreshments afterwards in Foxford Sports & Leisure Centre.
