Gaelic games legends from Galway, Antrim, Dublin, Laois, Limerick and Derry will all feature in the new series of Laochra Gael on TG4.
The popular series returns next Thursday the 13th of January with Antrim hurling figure Terence ‘Sambo’ McNaughton the first in the spotlight.
It will run every week between then and 17 February with Dublin’s Michael Darragh MacAuley, Laois legend Sue Ramsbottom, Limerick’s Joe Quaid, Galway’s Kieran Fitzgerald and Derry’s Johnny McGuirk also having episodes dedicated to them.
Corofin and Galway fullback Kieran Fitzgerald will feature on the programme on the 10th of February at 9.30pm.
He burst onto the scene in 2001, winning the All-Ireland and an All-Star at just 20 years of age.
A few years later, he was dealt a crushing blow when his girlfriend, Mairéad Meehan, lost her battle with cancer.
Under a cloud of grief following Mairéad’s passing, his love for the game declined.
Kieran eventually found rejuvenation with his club, Corofin, performing heroics to win an extraordinary three Club All-Irelands in a row in his late thirties.
Participants in this episode include Emer Flaherty; Michael Meehan; Gary Sice; former Mayo and Corofin manager Stephen Rochford; Sean Moran; and Máire Ní Bhraonáin.
