Mayo GAA have lead tributes following the death of Burrishoole GAA’s Dan Hoban.

In a statement to Midwest Sport they say they were saddened to hear of his passing and offered condolences to the Newport man’s family.

Dan served as a steward for over 40 years in MacHale Park.

He started off stewarding for Castlebar Mitchels when they owned MacHale Park and his main position was manning the tunnel and the dressing rooms.

Dan was a member of Burrishoole GAA and a former coach with the club.

He will be sadly missed by Mayo GAA, his club Burrishoole and everyone that knew him.

His remains will be reposing in St Dominick's Funeral Home Newport this Wednesday from 5pm-8pm.

Funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 12 noon in St. Patrick's Church Newport followed by burial afterwards in Burrishoole Cemetery.

Funeral mass will be live streamed via the Burrishoole Parish Facebook page.
