Galway United Academy graduate Alex Murphy, one of the most promising prospects in the West, has signed a professional contract with the club.
The former Corrib Celtic youngster, who recently turned 17, has earned rave reviews this season, having enjoyed six starts under manager John
Caulfield.
Caulfield said: “He’s one of our own and we’re delighted to have him sign a professional contract, his first professional contract in what we
hope will be a great career.
“We have high hopes for him and we can see his talent. The most important thing now for Alex is to work hard and continue his progress.
It’s a great day for the club and our academy.”
United face Caulfield’s former club Cork City at Eamonn Deacy Park on Friday night, with a restricted sold-out attendance of 800.
