Two of Sligo’s best gaelic footballers of all time, Mícheál Kearins and Barnes Murphy, have been appointed to honorary officer positions on the Sligo County Board.
Kearins, who was Sligo’s first every All-Star recipient in 1971, has been named as the new honorary President of Sligo GAA.
He succeeds Tommy Kilcoyne, who stood down from the position at last December’s County Convention.
Murphy, an All-Star winner himself in 1974, has been given the newly-created role of leas-Uachtarán.
The Castleconnor native captained and coached Sligo’s Connacht championship winning side of 1975.
