Coronavirus countermeasures are the "top priority" for organisers of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

IOC president Thomas Bach has reiterated their "full commitment" to making sure this summer's rescheduled Games are safe for athletes and the Japanese people.

He's also confirmed countries are making "good progress" in vaccinating competitors, but that having a Covid-19 jab won't be mandatory.

Mayo swimmer and Olympic hopeful Nicholas Quinn has been telling Midwest Sport that he would like to think that he will be vaccinated before the games.
