Members of Connacht Hockey joined Michael D. McAndrew on the Sunday Sports show as they continue their campaign to develop the sport across the west.

It is part of the Misneach le Cheile initiative, which aims to get new facilities for women and men in the region.

They are looking to build 2G pitches, which help support the speed of the ball, to develop the sport and the skills of the players across the region.

Connacht Hockey are appealing to the political community to support the initiative.

They say the success of the national women and men's teams have driven a lot of interest in the sport, particularly in Galway, but because they don't have the facilities they have had to turn new players away.

Kevin Keane, The President of Connacht Hockey, Aisling Keogh, a board member Hockey Ireland and Tanja Schafer, development Officer with Connacht Hockey all took part in the discussion.
