The return to collective senior inter-county training could be postponed in the wake of rising Covid-19 cases in Ireland.

The GAA yesterday advised members that the reimposition of Level 5 restrictions meant that only individual training was allowed at the moment, that matches are forbidden and that GAA club grounds must remain closed.

Inter-county training and matches are considered 'elite sport' and permitted under Level 5 but the GAA had said training shouldn't recommence until 5 January, ahead of the start of the 2021 Allianz Leagues on the last weekend in February.

The association has now warned however that "given the current growth rates in virus transmission, this date is under review".
