Mayo have lost a tenth final since their previous All-Ireland title in 1951.
They lost out to a steely Dublin outfit who claimed a sixth consecutive title in style.
At Halftime Mayo had battled hard and were within two points of the Dubs at 2-6 to 0-10.
James Horan's men continued the fight in the second half but Dublin pulled away in the final quarter.
Dessie Farrell's team ran out five point winners on a score line of 2-14 to 0-15.
