The Minister for Sport is meeting public health officials and top sporting figures today to discuss the lifting of restrictions at matches
Until recently, up to 200 people were allowed to gather together for a sporting event, but last month the Government said that matches must be played behind closed doors as part of new restrictions to stop the spread of Covid-19.
Today, Sports Minister Catherine Martin has arranged a teleconference meeting with top officials from the GAA, FAI, IRFU and Sport Ireland along with the Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly and acting Chief Medical Officer Dr Ronan Glynn.
The sporting representatives are expected to outline their concerns and suggestions to health officials, with a view to working out how current restrictions could be lifted.
