Connacht have been handed another European boost for next season after it was confirmed that Andy Friend's side will seeded in Tier 3 for the Heineken Champions Cup.
Yesterday it was confirmed that Connacht would play in next season's expanded 24-team tournament, with four extra teams added due to the unique circumstances caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
And now Connacht have been given more good news as the Guinness Pro14 announced that they will be seeded in Tier 3 of the Pro14 teams alongside Scarlets, based on their league points total before lockdown.
The Pro14 indicated that Glasgow Warriors were a Tier 3 qualifier and Connacht were a Tier 4 qualifier, however this morning they corrected that error.
Teams in Tier 1 will be this season's Pro14 finalists with the losing teams from the semi-finals making up Tier 2.
In the expanded Champions Cup eight teams each from the Pro14, France's Top 14 and England's Premiership will be divided into four tiers across two pools, with each side playing four group games, as opposed to six in a normal season.
