Golf clubs in the Republic of Ireland will reopen for play from next Monday, but only to members, and only for members who live within 5km of the course.

The GUI announced yesterday that the Irish Amateur Open and the four provincial championships for 2020 - including the West of Ireland - are the latest major domestic fixtures to be cancelled.

The governing body said that the Amateur Open championship had been cancelled "due to the uncertainty prevailing around international travel and related disease control challenges".

The GUI also provided an update to the rescheduling of other events stating: "A limited series of Bridgestone Order of Merit events have been rescheduled, with the Munster Stroke Play, Mullingar Scratch Trophy and Connacht Stroke Play all being rescheduled for August and September, following which the AIG Irish Amateur Close Championship will be the season-ender at Rosapenna on 9-11 October."
