Olympic Swimmer Nicholas Quinn says it was a relief that the Tokyo Olympics were postponed until next year.
The Castlebar man says from an athlete’s point of view it was great to have the clarity.
Quinn who is based in Edinburgh told Sunday Sport today that he hasn’t been in the pool for eight weeks now with the restrictions but still has a strict training routine.
The 26-year-old had always viewed 2020 as a "marker to see where I'm at and potentially call it a day after that".
The postponement pushes that eventuality back one year.
Nicholas says one of the nicest things he got from the Rio Olympics was the reaction and support he got from Castlebar and Mayo.
