The Roscommon Senior footballers have today raised over 50,000 euro for the Mayo Roscommon Hospice with their shave or dye challenge.

The team set up a gofundme page for the initiative in the middle of April with the aim of raising 30,000 euro for the palliative care service provider.

50 Roscommon players, management and backroom staff took on the challenge, with those who donated getting to decide who shaved their hair off and who dyed it a different colour.

All 12 of the Mayo-Roscommon Hospices' charity shops and their public fundraising events were postponed or cancelled due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The hospice noted a drop in income of €30,000 a week, so the fundraising effort from the Roscommon footballers and similar events will be very welcomed at this time.
