Former Galway United striker Aaron Connolly is unlikely to be available for Ireland’s Euro 2020 play-off or U-21 qualifiers in June after his club confirmed he has undergone surgery on an ankle injury.

The Brighton player is observing the Premier Leagues lockdown, with clubs asking their players to stay fit by training on their own at home to maintain full fitness if and when the season resumes.

The Irish Independent reports that if Ireland’s play-off in Slovakia, provisionally fixed for June 4 is played, Connolly would not be fit to play, with the same applying to Ireland’s U-21 Euro qualifiers in June.
