Last Saturday was a landmark day in the 45-year history of Creggs rugby club.

Three new pitches, the new terrace and new stand were officially opened, with a new electronic scoreboard also unveiled.

The day started off with 350 boys and 50 girls gathering to play a Mini Rugby Blitz, while in the afternoon, several youth teams played league and friendly games, before Creggs defeated the Buccaneers by 38 to 21 in the Connacht Junior 1A league.

Following the official opening of the new facilities, Creggs now boasts the only full-size World Rugby Approved  4G artificial all-weather pitch in Connacht.
