Roscommon GAA has nominated the former President of Connacht Council GAA Mick Rock of Elphin GAA Club as a candidate in the election of the new GAA President.

At a meeting of the Roscommon County Board last night, Mick Rock was nominated by Eric Murray, Chairman of the Elphin Club, and seconded by Ger Aherne of St Brigid's GAA Club.

Chairman of the County Board Seamus Sweeney says there was overwhelming support and Roscommon is 100% behind Mick as a candidate to run in next year's Presidential election.

Of the 39 GAA presidents to date, only 5 have been from Connacht.
