Ger Cafferkey has announced his retirement from the inter-county game.

He is the second Mayo player, after Andy Moran, to retire after the 2019 season.

The Mayo full back made over 100 appearances for his county, collected 6 Connacht medals and was named an All Star in 2012.

Ger made his debut under John O'Mahoney against New York in 2009 but enjoyed his best days during James Horan's first stint as manager.

Ballina Stephenite's Michael Kilkenny has thanked the iconic Mayo number three for his dedication and service to both his club and county.
