Ballina Athletic Club hosted its third annual Wild Atlantic 10 mile road race yesterday. 

A 200 plus strong field lined up at the start  to take part in the event. 

In a competitive field it was Ballina AC athlete Alan Kelly in a time of 56.13 who led the runners home to claim the race win.  

From Reading AC (UK) Ryan O’Brien was the second home in a time of 58.16 followed by Ballina AC member Stephen Donnelly in a time of 59.33.

Local woman Norah Newcombe-Pieterse (mayo AC) was the first female runner home in 8th position in a time of 103.47 ahead of Ballina AC Athlete Serena Tuffy who claimed second place in 1.10.12.

Carrick AC athlete Deirdre Martin took the final podium place in 1.11.58.

Norah Newcombe also broke her own course record.
