A Ballinrobe athlete has become the fourth fastest Irish women in the 100m hurdles after achieving back-to-back a personal bests in the U23 European Athletics Championships.

Sarah Quinn, of Bowgate Street Ballinrobe, is competing in the European U23 Athletics championships in Gavle, Sweden this weekend and after winning her heat yesterday, just missed out on a final berth after placing fourth in her semis.

Her semi-final time of 13.57 seconds puts her in fourth position in the Irish women’s 100m hurdles leader board and 12th overall in the U23 women’s hurdles and the St Colman’s Athletics athlete believes the win will propel her on to greater heights.

Sarah will contest the relay qualifying rounds with her teammates on Sunday, in the hope of building on her impressive European showing.
