Westport Utd have lodged a protest with the FAI Junior Council following their 2-1 defeat to Aisling Annacotty in their quarter final.
The Mayo club lost out to the Limerick side after extra time and strikeronline is reporting that the club has lodged an appeal based on the eligibility of a player, who Westport believe was suspended for the match.
It is the second appeal in relation to the quarter final results. Following their 3-2 defeat after extra-time to Regional United at Dooradoyle, Sheriff YC of the Athletic Union League protested, citing discrepancies relating to a Regional player and specifically an irregularity surrounding an International Transfer Clearance Certificate for one for the Limerick club’s players.
That protest will be heard in Dubllin today, while Westport Utd’s appeal, which was lodged within the allocated time, will most likely be on Thursday March 28th.
