This week the Irish Master Athletics Association  announced the Irish teams to compete in the British & Irish Masters Cross Country International next month.

This follows last Sunday’s (October 21) trials –  part of the Open Autumn Cross Country Festival at the National Sports Campus in Abbotstown, Dublin. Teams of four represent each age category except for men’s o35 – o50 who have six in each.

Four Mayo AC members competed in the trials and three of them were selected on the Irish team to compete in the Annual  British & Irish Masters Cross Country International in Swansea next month.

They are Pauline Moran who will lead the Irish W60 team, Mags Glavey leads the W65s, and Tom Hunt is in the M70 squad.

It was a big achievement for Norah Newcombe to get to the start line and she was just outside the selection contenders in 7th place W35.

The Irish team compete against master athletes from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
