Midwest Sport understands that a steering group of Mayo County Board has requested that clubs would consider giving €83 of their annual gate receipt rebate back so it can be given to Caiseal Gaels and Ballyvary Hurling Clubs.
The two clubs were left out of the funding allocated to clubs in the county following a donation by JP McManus as they are exclusive hurling clubs who do not pay full levies. Each club received €2,083.
However the decision caused unrest and was discussed at a county board meeting a number of weeks ago.
Following that meeting it was referred back to the steering group.
Midwest Sport understands that clubs have now been contacted with the suggestion that €83 be deduced from their gate receipts rebates due to them at convention.
We're awaiting confirmed on the matter from the Mayo County Board.
