Richard Barrett (better known as Richie),

Attycunnane, Belmullet, Co. Mayo and formerly of Barrett’s Public House, Bangor Erris, Shraigh Hill, Bunnahowen, Belmullet and Leeds, England - peacefully at the Belmullet Community Hospital surrounded by his loving family on 3rd December 2024.

Predeceased by his parents Richard and Mary, brothers Michael, Martin, Patrick and Thomas, sisters Maggie, Bridget, Katie and Mary Ellen and niece Collette.

Beloved husband of Mary (née Barrett – Ballymacsheeron, Binghamstown, Belmullet), dear father of Brendan, Frank, Richard, Paul, Stephen and Gabrielle and grandfather to his cherished grandchildren.

He will be sadly missed by his heartbroken family, brother James, daughters in law, son in law, sisters in law, brothers in law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.

May His Kind and Gentle Soul Rest in Peace.

Remains reposing at McDonnell’s Funeral Home, Belmullet on Friday evening from 5 o’clock until 7 o’clock.

Funeral will arrive at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Glencastle on Saturday afternoon for Funeral Mass at 1.30 followed by burial in Glencastle New Cemetery.

Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu if desired to the “Belmullet Community Hospital”, c/o McDonnell Funeral Directors, Belmullet.

Live Streaming of the Funeral Mass is available for viewing on McDonnell Funeral Directors Facebook page on Saturday afternoon at 1.30 with all other funeral services available for viewing on Saturday evening at 9 o’clock.
