Around 56,000 customers across the country remain without power this evening.
The National Emergency Co-ordination Group has met today, saying electricity has been restored to 712,000 households.
Fewer than 460 premises now remain without water and significant progress has been made in restoring telecommunication services.
It says ESB Networks continues to do everything to restore power connections as soon as possible.
