A Status Red wind and rain warning has been extended to cover a total of 22 counties across the country, with Met Éireann warning of a possible "danger to life" as Storm Éowyn is expected to bring "damaging and destructive" winds.
Met Éireann said likely impacts of the storm include the cancellation of events, unsafe working conditions, fallen trees, significant and widespread power outages and disruption to transport.
The Status Red wind warning for Cork, Kerry and Limerick comes into effect at 2am on Friday until 10am that morning.
The red wind weather alert for Clare and Galway is valid from 3am until midday and 4am until midday for counties Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo.
Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow, Roscommon and Tipperary are also under a red weather warning for wind from 6am until midday.
From 6am until 3pm, the red weather warning for wind is valid for Co Donegal.
A separate Status Red rain warning has been issued for Cavan, Monaghan, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath, Wicklow and Tipperary.
This is valid from 6am until midday.
